A little update, today me, Lida and Srey Puch went to one of the government hospitals in Phnom Penh with fruit – 18 bags of fruit (plai chuer). Oranges and longan (I think that’s the name of it) to be specific!
Thank you if you gave me some money to do something for those who had suffered that terrible night at Koh Pich on the bridge. When people suffer through something like this we realise the value of community, family and support. There are only a few patients left in the hospital today…Tomorrow is the 1 month anniversary of the tragedy. We met one girl, 22 years old, who was working in a garment factory in the north of PP. She was at the water festival celebrating with friends, two of her friends died on the bridge.
Often the physical wounds heal before the emotional wounds and I have no doubt that there is a great deal of trauma from what happened that night. Not only from the those who were directly affected. My friend and khmai teacher told me she felt sick for a week after it happened and many people are fearful of going near the riverside and the bridge. Please pray for a release from fear, I tried to encourage my friend to come to our churches Christmas celebration on Sunday at Koh Pic and still praying she will come with her husband!
